Rex Ryan joins Jim Kelly for helicopter ride at charity golf tourney

BATAVIA, N.Y. -- The connection between Rex Ryan and Jim Kelly has been evident since Ryan took over as the Buffalo Bills' coach last season, and their relationship soared to new heights Monday -- literally.

Ryan joined Kelly in a helicopter at Kelly's 30th annual charity golf tournament Monday, dropping dozens of golf balls on a green for a contest to raise money for children's charities.

Even for Ryan, who went skydiving in July with the U.S. Army's Golden Knights parachute team, the brief ride in the helicopter on a windy day proved nerve-wracking.Wholesale Buffalo Bills jerseys

"That's a different experience now," Ryan said after landing safely. "You get that door open, it's like, 'OK.' I started leaning over there by Jim. Got a little hairy over there."

"We both were praying before," Kelly added. "But we both also forgot how windy it is. We're up in the helicopter, that's one thing, but when you have 20 mile-per-hour winds, getting up there, it's like, 'Oh geeze.' But that was fun. And I wasn't even gonna go up. And I said, 'Extra seat? Why not?"
Ryan brought his entire team to Kelly's tournament for the second consecutive year, taking the place of a traditional organized team activity practice. Among Kelly's other guests were NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who was in town to celebrate the milestone 30th edition of Kelly's annual event.Wholesale nfl jerseys

"It's amazing that we've been able to sustain it and get the people that we get to come out here each and every year," Kelly said. "Thirty years of being able to give back, and what even makes it more special -- I shouldn't say more, but I get it even more -- is probably the last eight or 10 years when we do our luncheon over at Ilio DiPaolo's [restaurant], the 30 charities that we pick, we allow about seven or eight charities to get up and they get five minutes to talk about their charity that we
